So you want to lose weight and you’ve heard Zumba is a fun way to do it. For those people who are not coordinated, who are new to Latin dancing, or who don’t learn the steps very easily, it can be intimidating. Fortunately, Zumba has created a great DVD class that will make it simple for you.
The Zumba DVD set comes with a total of four discs. The first has a class called Zumba Basics Workout. This is the one who will teach you all the steps in detail. The Zumba Basics workout is a full hour workout that covers 24 basic steps and includes merengue, salsa, quebradita, cumbia, reggaeton, caribbean and samba.
The steps are masterfully taught in what they refer to as an easy 3-level rhythm system. The levels are as follows:
- Steps are taught slowly without arm or hip movements.
- In the next level arm and hip motions are added but the tempo is still done at half pace.
- In the third level, you do the full stride at a full pace.
For beginners, this is a great way to learn the Zumba moves. This is also a great way to learn the basics of Latin dance. When you get comfortable with the steps, you get more out of your workout and get faster results.
On the same DVD is the 20-Minute Quick Workout. This exercise will reinforce all the steps you just learned. It’s a quick way to get some fun aerobic exercise.
